The Firewise Committee will select a quarterly honoree for a home or lot in Deercroft that exhibits firewise qualities.  Listed below are the criteria:

• Underground propane tanks are marked
• House numbers are easily visible from the street (reflective or lit)
• Lot and sourrounding area free from as much debris as possible
• Disposing of debris properly (recycle center, not the undeveloped lot next door)
• Regularly removing pine straw from roof and gutters
• Use of the safest plants for landscaping
• Removal of low level vegetation from undeveloped lots to reduce fuel load
• Committee volunteer
